Being the Room Parent for your child's class is a full year commitment with exciting opportunities to be involved in your child's educational experience!
- You will be contacted by your Room Parent Coordinator (a KPS PTO Vice President). Your VP will provide you with all Classroom Parent Helper Forms submitted by parents.
- Room Parents are expected to have all valid Clearances submitted. For any questions about Clearances, please contact Holly Perri (724-312-5090).
- Field Trip Chaperones are chosen by the classroom Teachers and you must have your Clearances if you are asked to go.
- Contact teacher as soon as possible to become aware of teacher’s preferences and needs for all classroom activities for the year.
- Contact every parent in your class via a send home paper and introduce yourself as the room parent. A sample letter is linked below. Please include your telephone number and email address. Make sure to assign Parent Helpers to all 3 parties and include those names in your Introductory Letter. All grades (K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd) are permitted 3 Party Helpers per party. - Maintain a listing of available parents to help with classroom parties, activities, and donations. You will receive all papers that have been submitted by parents that wish to help with parties, snacks, and any other classroom opportunities.
- Coordinate parents’ visits to classroom for activities, you have the responsibility to assure that all parents who have expressed an interest in participating receive equitable opportunities.
- Organize at least three class parties - Fall Party, Winter Party, and Valentine’s Day. (Teacher may have additional parties or events.) As the Room Parent, you are only to attend 1 classroom party. You are not to be at all parties. Please ask your Party Helpers to try to get a picture of every table with the kids lined up holding their craft, or participating in the activity. We are also always in need of group photos of the entire class! Yearbook photo submission instructions are attached and also available on the Yearbook web page on this site.
